IPS & Battery Backup Calculator

How long will your IPS, UPS or solar battery run fans, lights, router and TV during load shedding? Pick the battery Ah and volts and add your load.

Typical loads: ceiling fan 60–80 W, LED light 10–15 W, router + ONU 15 W, LED TV 60–100 W, laptop 60 W.

How it is calculated

Battery energy (Wh) = Ah × volts × number of batteries. Usable energy = battery energy × usable share (50% for tubular, 90% for lithium) × IPS efficiency. Backup time = usable energy ÷ load in watts. IPS size (VA) ≈ load ÷ 0.7.

Results are estimates for planning, not bills. Your utility’s bill is final. For generator hookups use a changeover switch installed by an electrician.
