How to Complain About a Power Cut or Electricity Bill
The fastest way to get a fault fixed is to tell your utility directly. Have your customer/account number (on the bill or prepaid meter card) and your exact location ready.
1. Call the hotline
16999 – the Power Division’s unified line – works for every utility. Utility call centres: DPDC 16116, DESCO 16120, NESCO 16603, WZPDCL 16117, BPDB 16200, Palli Bidyut 16899. For a fallen line, fire or electric shock call 999 first.

2. Visit or write to your local office
Each utility has local sales & distribution (S&D) or zonal offices; Palli Bidyut Samitis have zonal and sub-zonal offices with complaint centres that are open 24 hours.
3. Bills, meters and service standards
For wrong bills or meter problems, complain to your utility first. If it is not resolved, the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (hotline 16121) accepts consumer complaints, and the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) sets tariffs and service standards. Check your bill with our electricity bill calculator.
