How it is calculated

Running watts = all appliances you run at once. Starting watts = running watts + the largest motor surge (fridges, pumps and AC compressors start at 2–3× their running watts). We add a 20% margin; KVA ≈ watts ÷ 800 (power factor 0.8). Fuel is estimated at half load.

Results are estimates for planning, not bills. Your utility’s bill is final. For generator hookups use a changeover switch installed by an electrician.
